SNOWFLAKE, ARIZONA – Walter “Walt” Blackman has recently filed paperwork with the Arizona Secretary of State to seek Republican nomination for State Representative for the 6th Legislative District of Arizona.
“After careful consideration and much prayer, I am grateful for the opportunity to launch my campaign and bring real leadership to the statehouse,” Blackman said. “Our state is facing tough choices, which require hard decisions, experienced leadership, and a renewed commitment to civic engagement.”
“Like many in Arizona and across America, I have become increasingly frustrated with our current state of politics and the lack of decency and courage in our elected officials,” Blackman said. “It seems that no matter who we send to be our representatives in Phoenix our Washington, they just beat around the bush and push off making choices because of political cowardice, kicking the can to our children and making future crises more and more likely. I can’t just sit idly by and watch it happen.”
Blackman has a proven record of dedication to civic duty.
As a senior leader in the United States Army, Blackman earned praise from countless commanders on his ability to lead with moral clarity and personal conviction enabling him to see the bigger picture. As a senior non-commissioned officer, Walt deployed seven times in support of operations all across the world and demonstrated his willingness to stand up when asked to support and defend our nation.
In addition, Walt was responsible for teaching leaders and organizations how to combat sexual assault and sexual harassment in the ranks. He protected the rights of victims at the largest combat unit stationed in Europe and continues to remain nationally certified.
As a resident of Snowflake, Blackman remains a fixture at local events in Northern Arizona, speaking at veterans day events, local chamber of commerce meetings, and working to encourage expansion of youth educational opportunities such as Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) and faith based youth programs.
“I hope to have the opportunity to continue working in service to our country and fight for common sense conservative values in Phoenix,” Blackman said.
“I expect a fair and positive race, and I look forward to earning the support of voters, and working to keep that support. I encourage anyone who wishes to support my campaign to visit my website, blackman4az.com and sign my petition.”
Walt and his wife Kristie Blackman have been happily married for 13 years. The couple has 5 children and has lived all over the world, however over the course of 13 years has called Snowflake home.
